The Core AfterSchool Program
The AfterSchool Program runs daily from dismissal until as late as 6:00 p.m. Activities include academic support as well as free time to enjoy outdoor playtime, board games, and other fun social activities. A delicious healthy snack is provided each day.
Academic Support
Academic support is available and is included as part of the cost of the Avis AfterSchool Program. All AfterSchool students spend an hour in the library each day for supervised homework/study time. Students can sign up to request volunteer tutoring in math or for support with homework completion and study skills.
Enrichment Activities
A diverse menu of enrichment activities is offered. Classes may include Beginning Instruments, Adventures, Chess Club, Kickboxing/Martial Arts, Mixed Media Jewelry Making, Ballroom Dancing, and Tennis. Individual instrument lessons (flute/recorder/piano) are also available on a limited basis.
Interscholastic Sports
Many 6th, 7th, and 8th graders participate after school in a wide variety of interscholastic sports programs offered throughout the year.
Arts & Drama
During each of the fall and spring drama productions, students in the plays are invited to join the Core AfterSchool program in between their scenes on a given rehearsal day. Our drama productions.involve up to 40 students who are involved on stage, behind the scenes, and running the technical aspects of the shows.
