We invite you to review the timeline of events that have been scheduled to help prospective parents to become better acquainted with our school and its community. Please join us at any or all of them. We look forward to seeing you there!

 

October 2013

EBISA School Fair • Tuesday, October 15, 2013 • 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Prospect Sierra School will be participating in the East Bay Independent Schools Association (EBISA) Fair at HS Lordships in the Berkeley Marina.

Middle School Information Day (5-8) • Sunday, October 27, 2013 • 12:30–4:00 p.m.

Prospective middle school students and their parents/guardians are invited to the Avis campus for an overview of the Middle School. There will be opportunities to meet key administrators, faculty, and current parents. There will be teacher-led workshops for adults and students as well as a tour of the facilities.

Elementary School Information Day (K-4) • Sunday, November 3, 2013 • 12:30–3:30 p.m.

Prospective parents/guardians are invited to the Tapscott campus for an overview of the Elementary School. There will be opportunities to meet key administrators, faculty, and current parents, and to learn about our program. This event is for adults only.

The Prospect Sierra Authors & Lectures presents an annual series of parent education events. This month, join us for a discussion with Lenore Skenazy, author of Free-Range Kids: Giving Our Children the Freedom We Had Without Going Nuts with Worry.

Middle School Pizza and Play (5–8) • Friday, November 15, 2013 • 5:30–8:30 p.m

Prospective families are invited to join us for a brief welcome, a light supper of pizza and salad, and the middle school fall play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (featuring grades 6-8). RSVP’s will be required for this very popular evening.

All Together Now • Sunday, January 12 • 12:30–3:00 p.m. • Tapscott Campus

All current and prospective families are invited to this celebration of diversity, service, and authenticity on our elementary campus. There will be storytelling, planting native California seeds, exhibits of Service Learning from all grades, demonstrations of sign language, singing by the elementary chorus, family African dance, and, of course, delicious food to share.

Join us for a discussion with Dr. Wendy Berry Mendes, a Sarlo/Ekman Associate Professor of Emotion at UCSF. Together, we will explore how emotions, thoughts, and intentions are experienced in the body and how this influences thoughts, behavior, and emotions.

  • Phillip Alvelda: creator of TaDa Innovations and media genius-in-residence
