Kathryn Lee Kathryn Lee
Director of Innovation, Partnerships and Service
B.A. University of the Pacific, M.A. Mills College

Kathryn is especially drawn to the kind of experiential learning that can happen beyond the walls of the classroom. Education is most powerful when it feels relevant and students experience a sense of agency in the world. Whether it’s organizing a Carrotmob with middle schoolers or rethinking the assembly experience, she empowers students to design empathetic solutions to the challenges that matter. Kathryn co-curated a TEDx event exploring the science of compassion and education, sponsored by Prospect Sierra School and The Greater Good Science Center and feels lucky to be working in such a forward-thinking, warm-hearted community, where she learns from her colleagues every day.

Mark Basnage Mark Basnage
Director of Academic Technology and Innovation
B.A. University of Pennsylvania, M.A. Stanford University

Over the past twenty years, Mark’s work in education has engaged him in some of America’s most disadvantaged communities and some of its wealthiest; on the East Coast and the West; in public, private, and charter schools, museums, and nonprofits. He has received fellowships from the Orion Society and The Fulbright Memorial Fund and was one of the first recipients of Philadelphia’s Great Friends To Kids award. There are a number of recurring themes in Mark’s work: technology, community, knowledge creation, and innovation. His master’s degree from Stanford, where he was an active part of Stanford’s d.school community, is in Learning, Technology, and Design.

Britt Anderson Britt Anderson
Middle School Librarian
B.A. University of Pennsylvania, MLIS San Jose State University

Britt has been a middle school educator since 1993. As an Americorps member, a 7th grade humanities teacher in the Bay Area, then a librarian and Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Prospect Sierra, she has always provided opportunities for students to learn, teach, discuss, and practice what it takes to make the world a more respectful and peaceful place. Whether it is sharing the story of Claudette Colvin, the young person who paved the way for the activist stance of Rosa Parks, or listening to the untold stories shared from the lives of her students, she is nourished by how story can open our eyes, challenge our stereotypes and cultivate compassion and empathy.
