Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! With Maestra María and Maestro Roy’s help, our elementary Spanish classes created a mural that pays tribute to changemakers Frida Kahlo, Cesar Chavez, Celia Cruz, Roberto Clemente, and Elena Ochoa.
At Prospect Sierra we’re honoring Hispanic Heritage Month, also called Latinx Heritage Month or Latin American Heritage Month, which began on the 15th of September and marks the independence of Mexico and also several other Latin American countries such as Chile, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
Did you know? Hispanic origin encompasses people from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America who speak Spanish, while Latinx is a gender-neutral term that refers to people with ancestry from Latin American countries and does not include Spain.
Stay tuned for more ways we’re learning and celebrating!
