Prospect Sierra welcomes families to both of our campuses for our annual Summer Program!

We know that young people need engagement that matches their intellect and curiosity. Our Summer Programs were developed with that in mind. We can’t wait to spend a wonderful summer with you.

This summer our offerings include:

6 weeks

Six (6) weeks of Tapscott Elementary School Programming—Week-long camps for Rising K-5th grade students to enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities and education.

6 weeks

Six (6) total weeks of Avis Middle School Programming for middle school students that includes deep dives into Spanish cooking, basketball, volleyball, filmmaking, seasonal foods, and more.

THE PROGRAMS

K-5th Grade Students

Tapscott Elementary School - 2025 Summer Program

For Rising K-5 students, each camp includes a group of 12-30 students led by Summer Lead Teachers and Summer Teaching Fellows.

Every morning at camp, your child will be highly engaged. They’ll build on their existing skills while learning new ideas in core subjects like literature, math, writing, science, engineering, history, and music.

Camp afternoons focus on outdoor play, movement, exploration, physical education, and mindfulness. Our aim is for every child to come home looking forward to a good night’s sleep so they can return for more!

One week of Tapscott’s Summer Program includes:

  • Eight (8) hours/day of childcare at Prospect Sierra
  • Kids spend their week in grade-banded camps: K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th
  • Camp t-shirt for each child
  • Whole-child teaching and support
  • Low student-to-staff ratio
  • End-of-week culminating project

Extended Care is also available from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for an additional fee. Please contact our Office of Extended Programs for more information.

5th-8th Grade Students

Avis Middle School

For our Rising 5-8 students, camp consists of stable groups of 12-24 students led by a Summer Lead Teacher and runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. All Avis summer programs are $375. (Please note: the July 4 (week 2) are $300/week.)

Campers at our middle school campus can choose their subject focus from a wide range of engaging, project-based learning topics including science, filmmaking, Spanish language and cooking, basketball, and volleyball for example.

One week of Avis’s Summer Program includes:

  • 9 a.m.-2 p.m. daily camp schedule
  • 30-minute lunch time from 12:00-12:30 p.m.
  • Camp t-shirt
  • Whole-child teaching and support
  • Low student-to-staff ratio
  • End-of-week culminating project

Attention soccer players! Don’t miss this exciting summer program for rising 4th-5th graders! Join Coach Gabe Hens-Piazza, our Middle School PE teacher and experienced local coach, for a week of soccer fun. Along with gameplay, Coach Gabe will introduce mindfulness, kinesiology, soccer history, and famous players. From 8am to 4pm, your athlete will improve skills, challenge themselves, and dive deep into the world of soccer!

Attention soccer players! Don’t miss this exciting summer program for rising 4th-5th graders! Join Coach Gabe Hens-Piazza, our Middle School PE teacher and experienced local coach, for a week of soccer fun. Along with gameplay, Coach Gabe will introduce mindfulness, kinesiology, soccer history, and famous players. From 8am to 4pm, your athlete will improve skills, challenge themselves, and dive deep into the world of soccer!

Hoop it up at Panther Basketball Camp! Designed to assist players of all skill levels, campers will improve upon proper shooting technique and footwork as well as ball handling and passing. Coach Nick, PS Varsity Coach, will be conducting camp for his 19th season!

Intro to Filmmaking (led by PS Humanities Teacher, David Allen)
This summer's Intro to Filmmaking Camp offers rising 5th and 6th graders hands-on experience in visual storytelling, editing, and video production. Over one fun, intensive week, kids will develop skills, collaborate on a production, and create a short film to showcase on June 27. Whether you're new to filmmaking or have some experience, this camp, led by veteran PS 5th grade teacher David Allen, promises to be a creative, exciting adventure!

Spanish Through Cooking (led by PS Spanish Teacher, Isabel Bustillos)
Learn Spanish and Latin American culture through cooking regional dishes, exploring flavors, and building language skills. End the week with a fun Latinx Chef Master competition to showcase your new talents. Join Isabel, PS Spanish Teacher, for a summer of cooking, learning, and fun!

Around the World in a Week (led by PS Head Librarian & Advisor, Rebecca Jelen)
Join Head Librarian Rebecca Jelen for a global adventure without the airports! Each day, explore a different country through games, food, language, and culture. Campers will collect passport stamps while dancing, cooking, crafting, reading, and playing. Come experience the world in a fun, hands-on way!

Graphic Novels & Gaming (led by former PS Librarian, Mia Gittlen)
Campers will dive into graphic novels, exploring how stories combine images and text. They'll read, learn from authors and illustrators, and create their own graphic stories using digital tools. Plus, they'll build and code games in Minecraft using redstone, command blocks, and MakeCode—no prior experience needed. Led by former PS librarian and Minecraft enthusiast Mia Gittlen.

Noshing Through Nature (led by PS Technology Specialist, Mel Anderson-Stampley)
Join former professional chef and current PS tech expert Mel Anderson-Stampley for a tasty summer camp exploring California’s seasonal fruits, veggies, and more! Learn to prepare local produce while discovering new flavors. Picky and adventurous eaters alike will have their taste buds excited!

Volleyball Camp (led by PS Athletic Director & PE Teacher, Miya Frank)
Join us for a fun-filled camp focused on skill development, team building, game strategy, and competitive play. Learn the fundamentals of passing, setting, hitting, blocking, and serving through dynamic drills. Each day culminates in play where athletes put these skills into action!
