Sandi Tanaka
K-2nd Learning Specialist
Sandi Tanaka, K-2nd Learning Specialist, has over 15 years of experience in early childhood education, spanning preschool through second grade. She transitioned into her current role after seven years of teaching 1st grade at Prospect Sierra. Her teaching journey has taken her from Boston and the Bay Area to international schools abroad.. Sandi earned her BA in child development and Japanese studies from Tufts University and her M.Ed. in early childhood education from Lesley University. She is also trained in the Orton-Gillingham reading approach at the associate level. Fascinated by learning and the intricacies of the brain, Sandi continually seeks to understand how young minds develop and thrive. This curiosity informs her teaching philosophy, which emphasizes equity, mindfulness, and playful learning. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her two children.
